چکیده

INTRODUCTION A summary of the results of earlier workers has already been given by Seaton & Lumsden (1941), of whose work the present is a further extension. In that paper were reported investigations to determine the effects of age, fertilization and light on the avidity for a blood meal of female Aedes aegypti (L.). There remained to be worked out the effects of variations in temperature and humidity of the microclimate at the time of biting, with which the present work deals.

The circadian rhythm of flight activity in the mosquito Aedes aegypti (L.). The phase-setting effects of light-on and light-off.

Various authors have reported 24 hr. cycles of activity in Aedes aegypti (L.); these reports include the field observations of Boorman (1961) on biting and McClelland (i960) on biting and flight, and the laboratory studies of Haddow & Gillett (1957) on oviposition and Gillett, Haddow & Corbet (1962) on sugar-feeding. As a result of their laboratory studies, Gillett, Haddow & Corbet (1959, 1962)...

The Multiplication of the Virus of Yellow Fever in Aëdes Aegypti

Aëdes aegypti have been shown to be capable of multiplying the Asibi strain of yellow fever virus in their bodies. Following the ingestion of infected blood, the content of virus falls for several days, reaching a minimum during the 1st week. It then increases rapidly until quantities of virus greater than those previously encountered can be demonstrated. The actual final amount of virus demons...

Mosquito Transmission of a Reticulum Cell Sarcoma of Hamsters.

A transplantable reticulum cell sarcoma with leukemic manifestations can be transmitted from one hamster to another by means of a mosquito, Aëdes aegypti (L.). The transmission seems to be by a transfer of tumor cells, and not by passage of some other oncogenic agent.

Aedes aegypti disregard humidity-related conditions with adequate nutrition.

Weather variations have clear associations with the epidemiology of dengue fever and populations of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. Data on humidity associations, however, lags with respect to its effect on host-biting, nectar-seeking and survival. This experimental study on Ae. aegypti, sourced from the arid tropics, investigated the effect of low and high relative humidity and diet in relation to h...

Microclimate Conditions and Space Use Variations

This paper is a part of study about the impact of the microclimate on the space use and the user’s behaviours. The purpose of our study is to get an in-depth understanding of how people use out door public spaces in different climatic conditions, how their behaviour and perception of the space change with the climatic variations. We have employed a multi-method approach which combines a “qualit...
